Seriously, with the "minerals" stuff?

I tried L'Oreal "minerals" makeup, and I don't know if I am allergic or what, but it made my face ITCH something awful, it looked like I'd been dipped in tinted talcum powder, and when I took it off (after about 30 seconds) my face was all splotchy and red and SUPER itchy.

Has anyone tried this stuff? I didn't want to spend so much for the "Bare Minerals" stuff right off the bat, so tried the cheaper stuff, and now I'm wondering if the more expensive stuff is worth it?

Anyone have any experience?

oww you did have a bad reaction. I use smash box products and the foundation works well. I did use the bare minerals and didn't like it. It didn't cover very much.

The foundation is 38 dollars. I use F2 which is fair #2...thats was my perfect match but jules F #1 is pale with pink undertones...the stuff I use has yellow undertones...you just need to know if you warm or cool complected. A way to do that is to look at the veins in your wrists. If they are all blue your cool toned...if they are all green you are warm toned...if they are blue and green you have neutral skin. I hope this helps. I love this stuff though! The lipstick is great but it's 22 dollars. It does have a great taste to it. It tastes like graham crackers

I looked into that Loreal stuff for ya. It turns out it isn't PURE mineral makeup like the expensive stuff it just has mineral additives. There's probably some chemical ingredient you reacted to. I doubt you'd get that same result from bare minerals but I wouldn't know because I'm not you and I've never tried bare minerals. :P I do have a friend whose mom uses bare minerals though and she's 40-something with a flawless looking face. So it's got to be good for something.

Thanks for this, you guys. That stuff really was HORRID. My poor little face got SO red and itchy.

I think I'll try an actual makeup counter at a department store, with someone to help me, and let me test stuff before I "invest" as it were.

And I can't tell the color of my veins, lol. They look blue, but my face seems everso pink, to me.

I really just want something to even me out a bit, but NOT look like makeup at all, and let my freckles show through, too.

It might not exist, lol.

Oh, but I would love graham-cracker-flavored lipstick!

If I wore lipstick, heehee.

I like the tinted Burt's Bees stuff; has a bit of a tingle to it and still gives a nice deep brick red color, but not too heavy, if you know what I mean.

The foundation I use shows my freckles and gives me just the right amount of coverage. Its formula is 50% water too so there's not a whole lot of junk in it to clog your pores! It's maybelline pure makeup and I love it.
