Am I still a redhead?

Okay folks, here is My question: 

It was brought to My attention by a young lady while at a drunkin bash, that I am not a redhead.  She said My hair was brown and everyone has freckles, You're not a redhead.  I have always identified Myself as a redhead so this came as almost an insult.  I'll admit as I've grown older My hair has become darker, but I still can't go out in the sun for more than a few minutes, I cannot tan whatsoever and I still have freckles to spare.  While I was a child My hair was as red as the sun.  So what happened?  Did My DNA change over the years?  What makes a redhead?  Should I just give up on this whole thing including this site?  I know I'm welcome here, but I want to be here as a red and nothing else.  I know I'm nothing special as man, but I think I'd like to at least look "unique" amongst the never ending sea of brown haired Humans.  I know this may come off as sheer vanity, but it's become a serious identity issue for Me as of late.

No worries. Once a redhead,always a redhead. I myself am not a redhead but I have three redheaded children. So I claim the right to wave the flag.........................I am not a redhead,but I make them!

you will always be a redhead heston,redhair is just not a state of mind it is what makes us a different kind of human or westerner.it will not matter regardless of if you have a redhead mentality or redhair on the head this is who youalways will be so find a nice redhead lady.

I too feel your pain Heston....I've been told the same, been called blonde one minute,  brown the next, it's enough to bring on serious identity issues.  But you only need that random moment, when you see yourself in the rear mirror of the car, or in a photo when you're true red shows in it's full glory...!!  i think Brandi was right, the girl was just jealous, of both your having amazing redhair and also for your belonging to an amazingly special minority...!!!!  Anyway, as we all know, redhead isn't just a hair colour, it's a way of life and a state of mind.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah dude you are a redd, I'm gonna agree with the others here. there are 7 observable physical/genetic(MC1R) traits that reds have in commmon and from your pics you definately have a few if not all. Some reds fade to strawberry blonde or go to the darker auburn side over time and with age. My hair used to have alot of  copper and auburn in it even though it was mostly brown...heck now its all grey/brownish. It is what it is and you are what you are...so dont listen to some drunken troglodite.

To put it simple: if you were born a redhead and grew up a redhead you are a redhead...forever. For a lot of people the color fades and becomes less red but you still have the genes and you still freckle and you still burn. But I know what you mean, one time this girl asked me if I dyed my hair because it looked brown (that was insulting and I wanted to hit her). And your hair definitely still looks like it's red.

Heston, once born redhead, always redhead no matter if you go bald..


My hair can not be classified as ginger anymore. From curly and red turned to wavy and auburn, specially after my pregnancy ( so it may be related to hormones too) . Curiosly my freckles in the face faded a lot while the rest of the body is still full. I never understood that because the face is the one unprotected all the time... Anyway, I did not pass all those years being made fun of and trying to feel good anyway to come now somebody tell me I'm less than a red because my hair is not orange anymore... I jump at his/her throath! I'm small but I'm much meaner than I look. I mean, much redder than I look!

First of all, YOU ARE A REDHEAD. EVERY single picture I have seen of you, you DEFINITLY have red hair.

Second, she was looking through drunken haze eyes. So we all know how alcohol can affect how we see others.....(beer goggles LMAO)

Anyhow, don't you dare give up this site, OR consider yourself not a redhead.

As far as I am concerned she is jealous that she doesn't have it!

And as for not being special as a man.....yea, right. YOU are a redhead, that makes it even better and I think you are just fine as a man!

Heston you are definitely a redd. My hair also changes colour in different light - from a light brown to a near black. Pay Little Miss Drunken Boots no mind as Sinnie says, she needs a good swift kick in the pants.

You are red and don't forget it!  Now, this girl needs a kick in the pants for being so stupid.  Insulted?  I hear ya.  Someone once called me blonde cause in the summer my hair turned more of a strawberry blonde in certain light.  I was mortified!  lol

Anyway forget Miss Drunken Stupor - we love ya and you are red and will always be red!

Had the same problem as I've gotten older... Especially in the winter time when it darkens up.... I just shrug it off.... Sides, if anyone wants (Or is dumb enough) to press the issue, they will find out rather quickly that I do still possess the redhead temperment...... Screw the world, you are who you are, and who you want to be....
