So I finally finished the bed I started in part 4 - the first job was to dig out the breaker bar from the lump of concrete, not to difficult a job using jack hammer and chisel bit. It turned out that the breaker bar had found the remnants of the former gate post I had put there, so once recovered, cleaned and re oiled the bar was pressed back into service, and 10 minutes later all the concrete had been removed and two hours later, the bed was dug out, top soil laid and planting done.
Yesterday, I weeded the patio - or started to, there is an awful lot of patio to weed (I object to weed killer as it tends not to work on patio weeds and, if you are not careful, can kill your plants as well - so it's down on my hands and knees and dig it out by hand.
Now here I would like to introduce a success story. At the end of last summer I was the recipient of foxglove seed from my friend and neibour, Kim. Now I dropped a seed or two on the patio (foxglove seed is like dust, it will blow away on the wind) and they germinated at the beginning of spring it was like this:

Grrrr for some reason, I always get this result if I try to embed an image to this site - can sombody tell me where I'm going wrong here.
This foxglove has since grown into this:
http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll301/PhillipS1961/My%20Garden/?action=view¤t=02062008 084.jpg I kid you not this flower is 5 feet in height, and a foot and a half in width and becouse of this I have nicknamed it littlered not only on account of it's height but it's also very pretty.
the other foxgloves are doing well - but not as well as littlered, this plant has only had regular watering, ond only two liquid feeds.
Sadly all the sunflowers have died. They were eaten, I think, by a hedgehog I've had in my garden from time to time
It is slowly coming together, some results are in galloping successes, as well as dismal falures.
I live I learn I move forward.
Take care now.
Phil
