Old Saying's Part Four.
Posted On 05/13/2008 12:57:06 by scott6305
During World War II,the North American P-51 Mustang was the quintessential fighter of the war.It was simply the best of the best. The Mustang had a top speed of 450 mph, which was 50 mph faster than anything the German's had(except for the ME 262) and could out manuever anything! The throttle control's were two lever's with little rubber ball's on top of them, very similar to a car's gear shifter. When the pilot's would start a pursuit of German plane's,they would yell out "Ball's To The Wall Boy's!"meaning push your throttle lever's to the fire wall of your instrument panel, hence "Ball's To The (fire)Wall!".

Oh right, not a common saying that in GB though.
Mugabe's name backwards is "e ba gum", which is a common saying in Yorkshire
