Well I’ll tell you what happened to the snakes in Ireland!   It takes my hair about three months to become completely dreaded.  How about you?  Heathens is another word for the the people of the heather.   Are you a Heathen?  I will tell you now that I am and proud of it.  In fact the plant heather actually has some medically beneficial uses!  Be proud Read Heads!  St. Patrick just slaughtered many tribes of heathens, aka red heads with dread locks!  Do you think I am funny?  Do you laugh and say this is some joke?  Do you know that cactus was brought to Hawaii just to make the natives wear shoes?  Do the research my heathen race.  You will find it not so funny.

In fact all you geneticists out there that want to argue with the Alchemist about wither we are a race or not I will give you a bone to chew on.  According to Jared Diamond many indigenous societies where incorporated over time into many other societies.   Just because Red Hair, Freckles, passion, and the like are now our stereotypes does that not make us original, unique, and congruent?  There are only two ways that Red Hair has been apart of our society for this long (Big Period).  Especially because of the recessive genotype.

One:  We were a large population (lets just say indigenous tribal island peoples in the western europe area or other area) that became conquered and incorporated by other races.

Two:  We are so attractive that we have survived over 10000 years through natural selection.

Hmmmmm.....   I like Both :)

May I be frank?  Your argument  is initially good but the train of thought that you are running down is inconsistent with all other races.  I could give the same argument to pacific islanders or even native americans!   Where did these populations start?  Where did the come from?  I would like you to read a book: Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies is a 1997 book by Jared Diamond.  It will explain many things that your long scientific words (yet impressive) are literally wrong and inconclusive.  If I was to take your reasoning to the extreme we all came from Africa and there is no such thing as race.  I beg to differ.  Race is a genetically  similar people.  Indigenous, Red heads, I think so.  I think we have a better argument than say many asian and or other indigenous races!    Just as tribalbreeze said.  I have heard (yes anecdotal) that the celtic mediterranean tribes where the source of the legend of Medusa!   We (yes me) where a island people that kicked some Grecian ass with our long red dread locks and they went back to their king with there tail between there legs and made up some story of a people with snakes on their heads!

i am not being biased but im very happy to see another ginger that is real and not as loose and screwed as what some others are,yes i am homo-sapien because i was born with ten fingers and ten toes but i am northern european,gael,celtic.not western european anglo-saxon their is a difference and becuase i have ginger hair,freckles and fair skin i dont feel the same as everyone else when im in a crowd of redneck westerners and im proud of it.

Genetically, the chromosomal MC1R mutation [speculations involving others are still not fully understood] along with certain alleles --resulting in red hair, fair skin, freckles--are only recessive adaptations and while it is ever so beautiful in my eyes and the eyes of many others- this unique abstraction of redheads existing as an indigenous race is wholly incorrect. One sans red hair would not claim to be of another race if they sported blue eyes: also a recessive gene. Redheads are just as unique as everyone else; they visually offer more--in my opinion--in which to indulge yet do not descend from that contrary to the rest of us Homo's... H. sapiens, that is, naturally!

I am ranting,  I keep forgetting the main subject.  Sorry for digressing.  Yes I do think we are a race.  Let’s make that a PERIOD!  Just because we are recessive gene does not make us less, and or "below average".  How many of you have experienced discrimination?  How many of you have been easily picked out of a crowd?  How many have you have been the one to take all the repercussions of you fellow peers? Hmmmm does that not make us a RACE?  Does that not make us something other than a ginger, or a the one with the temper?  Are your children more stubborn, hyper,  yet wanting to climb the highest highs?  Just because they are not Red Heads does not make them not one.  We are the most enthusiastic, hyper, intentional, sexual, race on earth and even the half breeds now it.
