John F Kennedy Quote
Posted On 08/16/2009 16:27:33 by AmericanStrawberry

A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.
John F. Kennedy

I know the last administration was afraid to let it's people judge the truth and falsehood in a open market. They didn't care what they were doing to this country. They just lead blindly and wrecklessly. We are worse off today than we were eight years ago.

Assigning value to such an archaic system of politics such as 'democrat' and 'republican' is quite narrow-minded and absurd at that... this is a MAJOR problem in our country and it is both the stubborn and arrogant democrats AND republicans that think their party is always right and their opposing party is always wrong. Pathetic. Think in terms of issues and the world, our environment, those yet to be brought into this world- think about things in terms of issues and not party lines; stand up and stop hiding behind something so outdated and foolish.

At that, of course it is beyond absurd to think that ANYONE wants this country to fail because of the elected representative; how about we put an end to the mindset that anyone who opposes Obama's views is a right-wing extremist republican or racist and recognize the possibility that some simply DO NOT LIKE HIM. This discontent is not a reflection on Bush or any other president that unfortunately reigned relative to assuming one is better than the other... even those who's greatness we overzealously pontificate from our past are subject to the changing times for they are only human. These ideals are that of great insight, worthy of discussion and understanding, yet remain implausible given the increasingly decline and moral decay of the majority of this world. We as a global society will only progress forward whilst embracing our differences and understanding that ALL nations and ALL persons should not only be granted but are entitled to individual views and philosophies on life and how it should be lived. Obama seems to believe that he and he alone holds the key to revitalizing the U.S. and I believe this is a great display of arrogance every bit comparable to that of Bush (since we are so fond of bringing 'ol dubya into the picture). I detest them both and believe that one man does not deserve such a position as to rule over those whom he has never met nor cares to offer them a thought... until reelections come 'round, I suppose.

I want to see a woman or man take the stand to say I AM NOT WORTHY of such a position and understand that it is only by collaboration and total dedication to SERVE and not CONQUER will any resolve be found. The time has come for the end of the era of 'me me me'. An instant gratification society wherein everything must be faster... bigger... of which these items eventually retire to a dusty corner of 'so yesterday' to embrace the, what: better? Pride and regard for our actions, interactions, decisions... they are anything but vapid. When was the last time you challenged yourself to put in that extra bit of elbow-grease to make sure the job was more than 'done'?, helped a neighbor with their yard-work or carry in some groceries?, decided that maybe pinching a pen or two from the bank might be a little less than honest? Indeed, not worthy of criminal action alas, wherein was a gray area established for moral character?

It would be wise for all of us, my self included, to step back from our preconceived notions of what is and is not; put aside our arrogance and stubborn mindsets that only force us further and further apart. Intelligent discussion are to be conducted by scholarly and gentlemanly means, this pointing of fingers and incoherent babble must end if there is to ever be point. Yes, we are all guilty of allowing others to enrage our inner sense of being and compromise what otherwise might have come forth as we spout about our views; incase it is not apparent: this is the internet. No ignorant display of superiority or entitlement to faultlessness will ring victoriously over pure knowledge and well-thought opinions. Know what it is you are speaking of before offering retort and PLEASE do step outside of your box from time to time so one might see things from all angles; perhaps there is a better one of which neither party has thought!

I don't know how you can continue to lie and BS on my blog. You would be a good politician. You already decided Obama was a failure last november. You never have given the guy a chance and you never were going to give this guy a chance. Do you realize the mess Obama has to clean up after the Bush/Cheney years. It's going to take more than one term but you think everything was great during the Bush/Cheney years.

i'm never the one talking about bush all the time.... i believe you bring him up on a consistent basis.  talking about bush is so 2008, man.  as much as you talk about him on this site, there's no telling how much you talk about him in your daily life.  that's a dead horse.

wanting the country to succeed is not a difference between us, mark.  beliefs about how we achieve that success are the difference between us.  why would anybody be happy that the country is a mess?  that's a stupid accusation.  obama wants to socialize healthcare in this country.  he wants to redistribute the wealth of this country.  he wants to increase taxes, and he wants more government control over the private sector.  i believe that those things would not help our country...  i believe they would be a disaster.  so you're right.... i sure as hell want him to fail at implementing those changes in our society.  that has nothing to do with me wanting the country to fail....  because in my view, obama's failure is what's good for the country.

one difference between me and you, I want this country to succeed. You seem quite happy that this country is a mess. And you want OBAMA to fail so a Republican can come save the day. It's pretty sad that your not rooting for the guy to succeed and it's sad you think that Bush was a good president. I didn't root for Bush to fail he did that on his own. He was high incompetent lap dog of Cheney's.

it could probably also be argued that we're worse off today than we were 7 months ago.

I would say that this current administration is about as far as it would get from embracing these ideals... Are you aware that Prince Obama, once opposing the Bush doctrine of imprisoning whom ever he saw fit, now upholds 'indefinite detention' to ensure that those taken into 'custody' (as if what is done to them and the conduct is deserving of such a euphemistic term) are denied habeas corpus rights. Not exactly 'change' now is it?! And we need not spout off on giving the gent a chance, he has more than proven his stance: that of being yet another self-serving politician... a criminal in a suit; it is with the aforementioned I stake claim that he is no better than Bush and as far as arrogance goes, Obama is quite public with his pompous, know-it-all attitude. Yes, I would like him to truly change things for the better- anyone who would stand by whatever qualm they have against an individual in a ruling power and hope they fail is just as bad as our current system: stubborn, arrogant, asinine, and selfish. Black, white, yellow, red, purple... well, I guess you have to draw the line somewhere- 86 the purple... but the rest stand as do I, for the acceptance of our differences be it sexual preference, race, eye colour, right handed or left, which side of the bed we sleep on- how absurd are we as a country to allow such foolish judgements to drive forth ever-strong...? Could we as a nation be afraid of such truths: we are all the same at the core... and our falsehoods: there is not a man or woman in existence who possess all answers nor does the human race possess the diligence to strive for utopia. We settle for oligarchy which is steadily turning towards that which America professes to stand against: terrorism. If you are to look around and witness the atrocities going on in our own country inflicted by our leaders and the powers that command those who reign, the almighty United States abroad 'protecting interests' for what will soon be 8 years- oh, I forgot, we are spreading democrazy... erm, democracy*, because 'it' clearly works for us? Right? Right. Or are you a terrorist, too? Perhaps Johnny-boy was a spot off with the last bit: the governments of the world have lost that which makes them as close to utopia as we have come thus far, the fear of its people for there are far more of us than there ever will be of them.

Coup d'État, anyone? Drink up, comrade!
