What it all boils down to these days

Oh contrare ms. girl, I run a kingdom open to thought completely. I mean, whats the fun in mindless drones, they need you to hold their hand through every little crisis that comes along. I would expect such a brilliant scorpio to understand that after all hehe.

Now see, I think having more than 2 parties IS very important to the american system. I think things have rooted themselves so deeply that the only solution is to remove party alignment from the elections completely. I think without a party system in place everyone would finally be forced to vote merely on individual ability, especially since so many people simply follow a party's supposed ideals and turn a blind eye to the individual running for office. Hell, I know Obama had tons of money to run his election and I think personally there should be a cap as to how much one can spend at election time. Level the playing field, my personal thought anyway.

And doesn't that kinda piss you off redton? I mean there truely are only 2 options to choose from, anything else is just throwing your vote away. I know most of mine was worthless this last go around, especially since my state never votes anything but republican no matter who or what is running. I honestly think they would vote republican even if a brick was the right wing candidate.

"Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule - and both commonly succeed, and are right."--H. L. Mencken

"The danger is not that a particular class is unfit to govern. Every class is unfit to govern."--Lord Acton

I've actually been registered to a 3rd party (Libertarian Party) for around the last 12 years. Sometimes I vote, sometimes I don't. Nobody I've actually voted for was elected to office.

Third parties won't ever really come to prominence in the American system, because they don't need to exist. Politicians that run for office can fit pretty much any of their individual ideals and platforms into one of the two parties or even both.

Both parties have fairly diverse and it's members can vote against their own party, making conservative leaning democrats and liberal leaning republicans. Systems, like many parlimentary systems, have multiple parties and the entire party votes together, or you get kicked out.

i don't think there could be a successful third party any time soon.  i think they'd have to do away with the republican/democrat system as we know it and completely rename/redesign the political parties.  people are just too familiar and comfortable with the way things are, and every time a strong third party candidate emerges, it splits votes for one of the other major parties and basically ensures victory for somebody else.

having said that, though.... i would also like to see more than two parties considered seriously every year.  last year, i just had to keep shaking my head and saying........."THESE are the two best guys we could come up with??  a rookie with no experience, a chip on his shoulder, and policies that would rival for the most liberal in elected history....  and an old has-been who nobody even liked before the election....  and somehow managed to get through the primaries as the nominee, despite his boring monotone, uninspiring speeches, and disorganized campaign."  out of 300,000,000 people...  these are the guys.  gotta love the two party system.

Sad, but pretty much true. I think I enjoyed the "everyone poops" poster more though. Good stuff! Haha

*clap clap*  @ Fishmant
Couldn't say it better.  Both sides are just screwing it up anymore, we really need a 3rd option.  It kinda feels to me with the last two especially, one set, one's ready to spike.

Oh and since you can hardly read this.......

"Conservative: Agree with me or you're a socialist!"

"Liberal: Agree with me or you're a fascist!"

"Ain't politics grand?"
