I woke up this morning to Bella frantically running into my room to tell me that Lily (our African Grey) was on Mary Jane's (our green cheek conure) cage..
Lily, whose wings are clipped, somehow managed to get out of her cage and up onto a big shelf and up onto MJ's cage.. And there was MJ sitting on the bottom of the cage (I figured she was just hiding from Lily)
So I moved Lily to her own cage and MJ promptly hopped up onto her perch and started giving me kisses...and that's when I noticed where her cere should be, there was nothing but blood. Lily had bitten it right off. Her crying must have woken Bella up.
We called the only avian vet in the area, who told us the earliest we could get her in was 2:00 since they were closed from noon to two....even though it wasn't even close to noon. (Apparently they can't make lunch break exceptions when it comes to emergency situations)
So they are making us wait for hours to get her in... and I can't look at her without crying...
All things considered, she's acting quite normal. She's still giving kisses and cuddling and giving floofs.
Please keep her in your thoughts. This birdie has had a pretty rough year. D: D: D: D:
