"Paris Anne Marie Dubau! you can't possibly, actually be thinking about doing this?"

"Antoinette, my mind is already made up. And Besides if i was going to try driving here every one would know who i am, the daughter of the great Micheal Dubau, one of NASCAR's toughest." Paris tugged her sister into a hug. "California should be nice and I'll be home for the holidays. Just make sure no one tells dad that college wasn't the only reason for me to go to out west. He would blow a gaskit if he knew one of his daughters was trying to become a pro driver"

"Sis... Dad blew a gaskit over me wanting to get into engineering school so i could design cars, I think he'd explode if he found out you wanted to drive them." Antoinette took a deep breath and let it out on a sigh. Then she chuckled "who ever said God had mercy on the racing community by giving Micheal "The bull" Dubau three daughters is about to be proved wrong, dead wrong."

Four Years Later...

"Ummm Paris... I though your dad didn't think girls should race. But he showed up for your test I'm impressed. To say the least." Matt said under his breath.

"He doesn't know I'm here to test." Paris said uneasily

"Ah huh, gottoch ya. Well I'd better give you a hug and wish you good luck while your still among the living." Matt said with a smile. "You'll do fine. I know you can drive better then half these fools so you have nothing to worry about." At that he gave Paris a quick hug then pushed her on her way. That girl is some thing ells. She has the natural talent for driving just like that ass of a father of hers but shes sweet as pie... i wonder if she still tastes like one? Ok, that came from nowhere. it was one game of spin the bottle when we were fifteen. I wonder if she even remembers? Gah... I have to keep my head in the game if I'm going to make one of the teams today.

"Matt, I wish my Dad was a crew chef then I might have girls like that talk to me." Scott said. He had worked his but off to even get a test, he had promise though.

"Paris and I grew up at the tracks together. Well, until her old man sent her and her twin sister Antoinette, off to boarding school. That's Paris Dubau, Micheal Dubau's daughter." Matt took a deep breath to calm himself for the next on slot of questions. Scott was kind of nosey some times.

"She's... She's... Oh my God, you are the luckiest man on the face of the planet! Long legs, curves in all the right places, blond hair, and green eyes any man here would gladly trade places with you so if you ever want to just give me a call. Micheal Dubau is like one of the greatest drivers of all time." Scott said in a rush.

Paris inhaled deeply, the track always smelled the same on mater where you were in the country, this would always be home. she had spent most of her younger years being carted from track to track watching her father race. Now, she was here to test for a team. Antoinette and Gazelle had to drag her here for the test, when Dad announced that he was going to the track to see if the rookie hopefuls were any good. If Dad finds out I'm on the track I'm going to get skinned alive. Antoinette and Gazelle had better keep him busy while I'm out there. Just take a deep breaths. In 1, 2, 3... out 1, 2, 3. I can do this. I CAN do this. no I can't what have I done?

Deep breaths, just keep taking deep breaths. I'll get through this every thing is going to be ok. Gazelle said she and Antoinette got dad to agree to give them a tour of the remodeled owner's box so i don't have to worry about him seeing me.

"Driver, you ready?" Max the crew chef said over her head set.

"Yes, sir i do believe i am." Then there was a pose. did any one bother to tell him there was a women on the field to day, some how i think not.

"Five laps then green, Driver" Max said a little sheepishly. "Hows um... it feel, Driver?"

"She's loose going into turn three, but it's not bad. She also wants to drift high coming out." Paris said with laughter in her voice.

"Alright, bring her in Driver." Max said calmly

"Will do."  Paris rolled the car into the pits. Then almost as fast she was off again.

"Hot damn, y'all are fast."

"Well Honey, this is... the pros." max said with a laugh.

A few laps later Max told her to bring her in for the day. she pulled the car in and shut off the engine. Pulled off her helmet and handed it out along with the hands device. as she was climbing out she noticed the guys around the shop looked nervice.

"That was great." And then found herself looking her father in the eyes. "Oh damn."

"Oh damn is right. Get your ass out of that car, I want to have a word with you NOW!" Micheal Dubau has never been quite or gentile about anything.

"Micheal" Max said warningly, "She's to stay in one piece. she has to come back for tomorrows test."

"I get to come back?" Paris didn't even try to hide the excitement in her voice.

"Oh no, she's not" Dad said, pointedly. "No daughter of mine with be behind the wheel of a stock car and that's final. Paris out now."

"Last time I checked that choice was up to Paris not you. Seeings how she's old enough to have a say in the matter," Max said just as pointedly.

Dad never was one for tacked. You had to be blunt nearly rude if you wanted to get anything across-ed to him. Some people say he only got that way after mom died, others say he was like that before he meet mom. But when it came to his driving Dad was a major ass, well OK Dad was kind of an ass all the time so I guess it's not just racing. Ah... dear dad ya gotta love him any way. Max said i get to come back that is sooo cool, i can't wait.

Paris finished climbing from the car. then waled over to here her dad and Max where still having a heated discussion about whether Paris should be allowed to drive in the following days test.

"Dad I'm going. That's all there is to it" Paris said as confidently as she could muster.

"This is not up for discussion" Dad stormed.

"Micheal, you should be proud of your daughter. She has the fastest lap time so far today." To Paris much softer "I'll see you tomorrow at Charlotte, Sweetheart"
